Commissioned by the City of Davis and made by Susan Shelton, the the Davis Centennial Seal depicts the history of the city since its founding in 1917.
Carved in clay and cast in bronze, the seal, modeled after a bike wheel depicts the various aspects of Davis life and history.
Different events represented include the founding of Davis as Davisville, the introduction of the railroads and Interstate 80, and the founding of UC Davis as the University Farm.
